Getting to and from SFO is very easy. Whatever your travel plans, we have convenient options to get you on your way. Make sure you use the option that fit with your needs.

We recommend passengers take public transit whenever possible and there are plenty of options to choose from.

  • BART rapid rail connects SFO to San Mateo County, San Francisco and the East Bay. You save money when you take the bart to San Francisco or other cities and towns in the Bay Area but you have a lot of luggage and you are more than two people its not a good option because you don't save money and too much trouble moving around with the luggage.
  • Caltrain commuter rail also serves SFO (take BART to Millbrae and transfer). The Caltrain have the same benefits and downside of taking the bart.
  • SamTrans bus routes KX, 292, 397 and 398 link SFO to San Mateo County, San Francisco and Palo Alto. Same pros and cons as the bart and the the Caltrain

For car rentals, SFO's Rental Car Center is a convenient location for both pick-up and drop-off, and is served by the AirTrain automated people mover and it gives you the freedom to move around in the Bay Area but it's not advisable to rent a car if you plan to stay in San Francisco because you will be facing a tough parking issue all over San Francisco and it's expensive to rent a car at SFO.

Other transportation options for SFO include airporter buses, pre-arranged vans, shared-ride vans, taxis, limousines and charter bus operators.

Taxis   Are easy to locate at San Francisco airport, the taxis meter price depend on where are you going in San Francisco and it can range between $46 and $66 but you can plan your trip to San Francisco or to SFO by making advance reservation with ATA www.airporttaxiairport.com and pay $42 flat rate anywhere in San Francisco, no hidden charges as Uber and others, no toll bridge, no taxes, price per car not per person, live 24/7 customer services, Uber they don't talk to you and not available for early morning airport trip in many locations.
